Moor to Sea Arts

Class members Week 2

Week 2 : Free painting

18th & 19th October

TUTOR: Siân

what to bring

This week you will be working individually on your own pieces. Please bring your usual painting materials and any reference information you need.

And bring some questions about the painting you are working on. What are the useful questions to ask yourself when you are starting a painting?

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it.” Confucius…or Andy Warhol !

KEEP PRACTISING!

In week one we looked at how we can develop a shorthand of pencil marks that directly link to painterly marks we make with brushes. This is something to build up over time - keep practising.

Use any opportunity to doodle!

Watercolourist’s Doodle Kit

Are you a doodler? If so, think about replacing those handy biros and pencils for a few paints, a brush and some scraps of watercolour paper! A waterbrush negates the need for a glass of water nearby. Don’t forget the kitchen roll!

Note from Siân, 18.10.22 I found the list of colours I recommended as a ‘Basic Palette’ in class today (also see Week 1 ) available on both Jacksons Art and Ken Bromley, including permanent rose. Some colours are low in stock. SAA do not seem to stock Daler Rowney watercolour paint anymore.
