Siân’s inspiration for her Sketching Mitts comes initially from the gorgeous textures and colours of yarns… painting with wool! As an experienced knitter and as an artist herself her designs always keep in mind the practical attributes of the different styles she creates. Sian’s yarns are chosen with eco-friendliness very much in mind. Many of Siân’s fingerless gloves start with a delve through her stash of oddments left over from previous knitting projects, combining colours and textures into charming designs that evolve as she knits. Each delightful pair is genuinely unique!

Hand knitted in a beautifully soft DK yarn these mittens are light and comfortable for your hands, keeping them warm, whether working in a chilly studio or enjoying sketching outdoors.

The thumb cleverly keeps the mitt securely in place while ensuring a comfortable grip of your pencil. The stripy wrist band bridges the gap between hand and coat, keeping you extra cosy.

SIZE The mittens are designed to fit an average ladies hand. Knitted fabrics are both snug and stretchy in nature, easily adapting to a variety of hand shapes and sizes, providing a comfortable and snug fit for everyone.

YARN These mitts were made using a DK (double knit) weight yarn. This means they will be light enough to wear indoors in a chilly studio, and cosy enough for a comfortable sketching session en plein air.

COLOUR The main colour is a rich mid-blue (almost navy), with detailing in off-white and pink.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS Treat as pure wool. Gently hand wash in cool water. Do not wring. Re-shape while damp. Dry flat. Do not tumble dry.
